EMYR 2009 Comes To North Cyprus

Well it was all but a brief visit, but the arrival of the yachting fraternity to North Cyprus was a lovely spectacle to watch. The 2009 Eastern Mediterranean Yacht Rally descended on North Cyprus on Saturday 23rd May with boats arriving all morning into the New Harbour’s Delta Marina.  Due to some issues with local boat owners not wishing to vacate the old harbour all the arriving yachts were moored at the new harbour, but it didn’t detract from the event, rather it served to drive home the popularity of the rally with being able to see all the boats in one place. Port Cyprium Marina, North Cyprus

At long last the final go-ahead has been given for the much talked about and heralded Port Cyprium Marina project. This world class development to include modern berthing facilities and an all inclusive living village has been in the pipeline since 1999, and despite numerous set backs is now due to start construction. Given that North Cyprus is in dire need of a new marina facility this project should prove incredibly popular. Read more
