Having been open for a couple of years now, there is still always time to be impressed by the Korineum Golf & Country Club in Esentepe, located to the east of Kyrenia. Its location is pretty spectacular too, tucked away in the foothills of the Beşparmak mountain range, with a vast golf course at 6,232 metres. Opening with a huge fanfare in early 2007 it can be safely said to be the most popular place to go for those who like a leisurely but complex round of golf!
On entering the club gates you will automatically feel as though you have been transported to golfing heaven, with lush, perfectly manicured gardens and grounds all enticing you to get out onto the course. A huge effort and a lot of dedication have gone into creating the ideal golf course in North Cyprus, not to mention the additional facilities 
from the club house to the in-house restaurants, bars, spa and fitness rooms. We are not sure whether we would ever have the need to play a round of golf! But, the superb views engineered into the contours of the course allow golfers the time to appreciate the beauty of the surrounding areas, with brilliant views of the stunning Beşparmak mountain range and the calm waters of the Mediterranean.
Some fascinating facts about the course itself include the that it is planted with ‘Seashore Paspaluma’ grass seed, imported specifically because it requires 60% less water than other grass seed – a good idea as water is something we don’t have in abundance here! The club also has its own artificial lakes which store around 30,000 cubic metres of desalinated water to ensure that course greens and club grounds are green all year round.
In fact, everything about the Korineum Golf & Country Club feels exclusive which is just what was anticipated for the finished product! The golf course, which is an 18 hole 72 par wonder, gives every level of player the chance to hone their skills or try their luck. It’s been described as difficult, challenging, fun and frustrating but everyone seems to agree that it is up amongst the best golf courses they have ever played on.
Besides the course itself, there is so much more on offer here and nothing has been forgotten in its bid to provide and cater for everyone from beginners to pros. The clubs Academy has a driving range, practice holes, plenty of short game practice areas and golfers can also take the opportunity to seek advice from a PGA professional too. Alternatively there is always the Academy Bar if you fancy a break from all that practice!
Korineum Golf & Country Club is also active on the social scene as well, regularly holding functions and charity events in their conference facilities. If you just want to relax or work out then you can partake of a massage or sauna in their spa facilities and Fitness Centre, or perhaps you may fancy an afternoon tea or dinner at one of their restaurants or bars such as the A la carte Valley Restaurant or Café Akdeniz perhaps. There is also a Pro Shop for those of you who just can’t resist wanting to look the part whilst strutting your stuff around the course!
The extensive facilities available at Korineum also allow for them to cater for weddings in North Cyprus too, so you may choose to book them for your special day. Imagine your wedding set on the greener than green lawns in the grounds of the club with a marquee, all located a stones throw from the club house! Their dedicated service and attention to detail is excellent so you should feel confident that all your 
requirements can be catered for with no hassle or fuss.
For those wishing to become members of the Korineum Golf & Country Club there are numerous membership options available. There is everything from Junior membership for under 16’s to a 5 day package for those who want to immerse themselves in a feast of golf whilst on holiday. You can even have a corporate or family membership package meaning that there are plenty of options available to cater for every possible requirement. You can choose to just have a Leisure membership which entitles you to use the leisure facilities available which should enable you to make the most of your day with no problems. Most memberships also offer discounts for the club bars, restaurants and Pro Shop, so you may have no need to leave the club at all really!
All in all the facility is superb and not even being keen on golf doesn’t mean that you would not enjoy a day out here – it is exclusivity all the way!
