Do you perhaps enjoy a more active holiday, preferring to be on the go rather than be a beach bum? OK, so there are some great beaches in North Cyprus, but should you be looking for something to keep you occupied whilst on holiday in North Cyprus, one company may just be able to provide, with a variety of activities to keep you on your toes!
Cyprus Active in North Cyprus has been operating since 2006 and has built up an excellent portfolio of things to do should you be in the mood for an adventure holiday. One thing North Cyprus has in abundance is mountains and you can try your hand (or energy levels!) at mountain biking, jeep safaris or walking.
Walking
The company is totally geared up for any request in these departments too as you can join an individual or group walking holiday. Walks are very well structured with choices of routes ranging from the Crusader Castle Walk, Riverside Walk and Cape to Cape Walk, with the latter being a feat of walking ability! All walks are graded and guided with experienced guides on hand to pass on their knowledge of the island.
As you can see all the walks take in many of the fascinating aspects and historical elements that the island has to offer, so you will also have the benefit of seeing much of it whilst walking. Accommodation is provided too so that all your needs are taken care of, with transport to each stage of the walk.
If you are in North Cyprus on holiday but fancy taking a day out from sunbathing to see some of the island whilst getting some exercise then Cyprus Active also holds regular daily walks incorporating some of the best sights in North Cyprus such as Bellapais Abbey and Buffavento Castle, the villages of Karaman, Ilgaz and Malatya and Akdeniz Beach amongst others.
Cycling
Perhaps you are more of a two wheeled kind of person and want to try your hand at mountain biking across the island? North Cyprus is an excellent place to mountain bike, with steep climbs, shallow ravines, long and winding descents from the mountains, and miles of trail to cycle. Cyprus Active can also accommodate your desires here too, with 30 Marin Bobcat Trail bikes available for group holidays.
Everything is thought of as they also have a trailer that can take 18 bikes and a minibus to transport all the equipment on to your next stopover. Your group can partake of the Cape to Cape ride with a complete schedule planned lasting 5 days or you can plan your own routes with maps provided by the company. The choice is yours! Alternatively Cyprus Active also rent out their mountain bikes on a daily basis, so if you get out of bed with bags of energy give it a go!
Jeep Safaris
For a possibly more sedate way of seeing North Cyprus (we say that as its four wheels but you never know!) you can also choose a 4×4 vehicle option. Cyprus Active has a number of jeeps offering three tailored tours or you can just grab some maps, a tent and a bbq and go where you choose. This has got to be the best way to see the island, being able to take your vehicle anywhere you want, set up camp on a beach and move along to the next place of interest when you are ready.
Maps are available so that you don’t get too lost, although it may not be a bad thing to just take to the highroad and see where it takes you and after all it’s not such a big country so you are never far from finding your way! Again Cyprus Active offers daily jeep safari tours to incorporate those of you who want to spend the day seeing some of the island when you have had enough of the sunbathing.
If none of the above takes your fancy (although we can’t believe that will be the case!) then Cyprus Active can also advise and put together a programme tailored especially for you. For instance you may want to try paragliding or diving or just have a lazy day on a boat trip perhaps.
If you would like to find out more about Cyprus Active, what they can offer, itineraries, check out prices and see what they can do for you then go to their website www.cyprusactive.com or email them at info@cyprusactive.com or call on +90 (0)533 835 0782.

I was born in London, parents of Turkish Cypriot origin, visit N.Cyprus regularly.
I feel would be nice if there were some dancing schools, such as salsa, ceroc etc…
As a person who has danced over 12 years I feel this would be a good asset.
Please let me know if there are any..
best wishes

Hi Mus,
Thanks for your message – there are in fact dance schools but we haven’t gone into them under this article as this is more for holidays. However under other articles we have mentioned arts and dance quite a bit, so there is stuff out there. We will endeavour to do articles for the future – there is a new arts and dance school called Duet in Kyrenia so watch this space!
