Alternative Healthcare in North Cyprus

There is a long way to go in North Cyprus with regard to introducing alternative therapies and medicine into the mainstream, but there are signs that a change is in the air, mostly from the European community, who perhaps have realised that there is a need for alternatives to drugs and placebos.

You can find a lot of alternative therapists on the great little Buzz Book website, www.thebuzzbook.com, and listed under ‘medical.’ You may be pleasantly surprised at the different types of practices available to treat a variety of ailments and illnesses. In this article we will detail as many as possible, giving you information on the people to contact and their speciality! Please be advised though that we are not aware of their individual qualifications, so make sure that you ask in advance of any treatment.

Physiotherapists
If you have ever suffered from muscle problems, require treatment after an operation or suffer from joint pain then help is at hand here in North Cyprus. Physiotherapy takes into account previous medical history, lifestyle and a practitioner will look at the whole person before making a diagnosis and offering subsequent treatment. Reiki
A form of natural healing used to treatment many ailments, reiki means ‘universal’ or ‘spiritually guided life force’ and it is a treatment that addresses the whole person, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually, with the aim of regaining harmony and wholeness within the body and self. Treatment is given by the practitioner placing her/his hands gently on or over your body – it is a non-intrusive treatment and a practitioner covers both the front and back of the body. Reflexology
Reflexology (zone therapy) is the practice of massaging, squeezing, or pushing on parts of the feet, or sometimes the hands and ears, with the goal of encouraging a beneficial effect on other parts of the body, or to improve general health. Pranic Healing
Pranic Healing is a simple yet powerful and effective system of no-touch energy healing. Homeopathy

This therapy is based on the theory of treating ’like with like.’ Homeopathic remedies are diluted natural substances that if given to a healthy person, would produce the symptoms the medicine is prescribed for. Factors of a patient’s physical, emotional and lifestyle situation are all taken into account when treating a particular problem in order to prescribe the right medicine. This particular practice is not specifically a treatment but rather an approach to how it should be applied. Sounds strange doesn’t it, but it comes very highly recommended by one of our team who tried it after a nasty fall left her in a lot of pain in her hip.
